China to Australia

China to Australia freight forwarding

Yihang Shipping forwards commercial cargo from China to Australia by ocean FCL, ocean LCL, and air. For planning, port-to-port from East or South China to Sydney or Melbourne is often about 16–25 days. Brisbane, Adelaide, and Fremantle follow the rotation on the quote. Cargo from Dalian usually connects by feeder first. These are planning windows, not a confirmed transit. Yihang is not the Australian importer.

This does not invent a freight rate. It uses the lane and the volume to point at FCL, LCL, air, or rail, then opens a quote with those facts filled in.

Add a volume if you have one.

Without CBM, the table on this page is the whole answer. With CBM, we point at one mode and draft the quote.

How to plan this lane

Windows below are how the trade plans the move. They are not a Yihang booking.

Mode Planning window When it fits
Ocean FCL Often about 16–25 days port to port from East or South China to Sydney or Melbourne. Other Australian ports follow the rotation. Dalian adds the feeder. Regular or heavier cargo, and most shipments from about 15 CBM up.
Ocean LCL The same ocean range plus consolidation in China and deconsolidation in Australia. Smaller commercial lots, usually under about 12 CBM, unless the cargo is heavy or awkward.
Air freight A few days airport to airport when the flight is confirmed. Door time depends on pickup and Australian release. A date that will not survive a vessel, or cargo too valuable to sit.

What goes wrong on this lane

The ocean rate stops at the wrong Australian port

A Sydney sailing is not a Melbourne door, and Fremantle is not a short truck from the east coast. The quote names the port and the inland move together.

Wood, food, or soil was not mentioned

Wood packaging needs ISPM 15. Australian biosecurity can hold a container for timber, food, or soil. Say that before the booking, not when the box is already on the water.

Door-to-door was read as DDP

Delivery to an Australian address is a routing. GST and the import entry stay with the importer unless the quote names someone else. Yihang does not become the importer.

What to send

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Commodity, including timber, food, or anything that needs a biosecurity check
  • Gross weight and CBM, or container type and quantity
  • China pickup city and the Australian port or door
  • Incoterm, cargo-ready date, and who is the Australian importer

Questions shippers ask

How long does shipping from China to Australia take?

Plan ocean FCL from East or South China to Sydney or Melbourne at roughly 16–25 days port to port. Brisbane, Adelaide, and Fremantle depend on the rotation. Dalian usually adds a feeder. LCL adds warehouse time. Yihang confirms a sailing on the quote. These ranges are for planning only.

Which Australian port should the container use?

Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Fremantle are the usual gateways. The right one is the port that makes the truck to your door sensible. A cheap sailing into the wrong coast is not a saving.

Do you clear Australian customs?

China export clearance is handled on Yihang’s AEO brokerage file. The Australian entry, including GST, is the importer’s filing unless the quote names a broker. Yihang is not the Australian importer.

Should I ship FCL or LCL to Australia?

Under about 12 CBM, ask for LCL unless the cargo is dense or needs its own box. From about 15 CBM, a container is usually cleaner. Between those, price both. Weight overrides the cubes.

What do you need for a China to Australia quote?

Commodity, weight, CBM or container count, pickup city in China, Australian port or address, incoterm, ready date, and who the importer is. Mention timber packaging, food, or machinery before we book.
